"He loved the Creator, and honored his wondrous creation. ... YOWZA!" - George Koumantzelis - Your Yonder Yogurt Yogi,
Boo Hoo of Belvidere and The Granola Guru of Wamesit.

"Always remember that your life exists in that space of grace that depends upon the person in front of you keeping their foot on the gas, and the person in back of you keeping their foot on the brakes, while you gracefully glide in the middle. Pray that the reverse never becomes the case, or you'll be in serious trouble before you know it! ... The only way you can keep on moving is to keep moving!"
               - George Podunkin of Nodonuts
George loves the freedom-loving, free-flowing, experimental and improvisational music of the creative and fun-loving
psychedelic sixties
, along with ancient and archetypal, tribal,
world-beat
rhythms fused with the electronic and spacey,
ambient
synthesizer sounds of the progressive early seventies. He also enjoys tasty portions of traditional bluegrass and
roots-rock
music, both acoustic country and electric blues, as well as good old folk music of all kinds. He's also no stranger to enjoying hardy doses of both cool jazz and jazz-rock fusion, as well as huge heapings of late eighties alternative rock and
early nineties
garage grunge! In fact, he relishes listening to all kinds of world-beat music from around the planet, whether it's lyrical or instrumental. George calls the music he does:
"Hard-Folk, Space-Blues, and Tribal-Rock songs of Heart-Centered, Mind-Manifesting, Tail-Wagging Music."
George has jammed and worked with many musicians over the years, and is just as comfortable recording bands live as he is mixing and mastering music in the studio. A member of many bands in the past, George is presently only actively involved in two bands at the time: Aeolian Kid and Barefoot Nunus, and is continuously engaged in creative pursuits, off and on, with five others: The Basement Beats, The Woodshed Grunts, Abstract Orangutans, Landing In Libra, and True Age. To see a complete list of former clients and collaborators who George has worked with over the years, click on this hyperlink to the web site of Aeolian Music Works:

Primarily a drummer, George has been a natural-born
percussionist
his whole life. (Just ask his mom! He's been kicking-up a downbeat since his days in the womb.) As a
musician
, he's more comfortable with writing songs and lyrics than with singing or manipulating a melodic instrument. Nevertheless, his musical creative work is prolific, and he composes his songs on piano as well as on guitar. He plays an assortment of acoustic and electronic percussion instruments, acoustic drums and cymbals (Ludwig and Zildjian), electronic drums and cymbals, electronic synthesizers, some acoustic piano, some acoustic guitar (on his Fender Resonator), and some electric guitar (on his Gibson Les Paul). He prefers to record music live, without computers, for as George likes to say:
"
Midi doesn't jam!" As both a producer and a recording engineer, he has served as the musical midwife for many musicians and bands by either recording them at Aeolia Recording Studio or recording them live on location as Tan Hat Two -Track. ... The Muse knows who loves her.
George has been a student of alternative medicine, health foods, herbology, holistic healing, nutrition, astrology,
ecology
,  and Native American culture (where he studied American Indian courses with Professor George Luter, Ph.D., at U-Mass, Lowell) his whole life. His friends call him
"
The Granola Guru," and think of him as a sociological, environmental, eco- philosopher, as George belongs to
numerous
environmental groups working to heal the planet. In fact, his name means: Earth Worker. George just considers himself to be someone who is spiritually seeking the ultimate good groove.
Besides doing photography, George also likes to write poetry, essays, and book and music reviews (which he posts at his home page at amazon.com as The Aeolian Kid) ... ( and here as well - YOWZA!).... Hiking up a mountain trail is another outdoor activity he enjoys with a passion. An appreciator of art (especially surrealistic), music (especially psychedelic), and
philosophy
(especially Gurdjieffian), George loves to read books, listen to music, and turn people on to what he's discovered. He still feels an abundance of enthusiasm for life and has never lost his youthful idealistic vision of creating a better world. As George's grandfather always used to say in Greek: PAN  METREON  ARISTA - "Everything, by using measurement, results in excellence."
Originally a Classics Major at U-Mass, Amherst - and then a
Philosophy
Major (with an Art Minor) at U-Mass, Lowell - George eventually earned his degree (summa cum laude) in 1999 in Sociology (with a concentration in Conflict Theory) from the University of Massachusetts, where he studied with
Professor Levon Chorbajian, Ph.D
., as his advisor. He proudly belongs to the Alpha Kappa Delta Society of Sociologists. While at U-Mass, Amherst, he taught mini-photography courses with his friend and Barefoot Nunus bandmate, Greg Franceschi (director of the Easthampton Community Access Cable Television Station in Eathampton, Massachusetts) and studied photography (also with Greg) at Amherst College with the internationally noted photographer, Alexander Tsiaras.
George is the author of: AMHERST: DHARMA DREAMS & FAIRY RINGS (A SPIRITUAL ODYSSEY) (a novel about his college years in the early 1970's), the producer of Cosmic Podunk: A Graceful Space (a free-form, jam-band / world-beat, college radio program at WUML, FM, at The University of Massachusetts, Lowell), and the founder of Seeds Of Sound: Ecology Benefit Concerts (musical events which raise funds and awareness for local, national, and international ecological, environmental groups). Basically, George is inspired, very creative, and he likes to help people.
